Leaving aside HDCP for the moment, there's no problem with just-DVI even if
all dvd players had HDMI only. HDMI is just video+audio. DVI-HDMI (and back)
converters are readily available so they can be interconnected.

(HDCP can be applied to DVI or HDMI)
