And when CDs came out, and for a long long long time after, a huge premium
was put on the price of CDs. The record companies seemed to have a different
view on buying the right to listen to the music, not the medium, otherwise
all that rereleased material would have been sold at cost, on receipt of the
original vinyl.
They want it both ways.
