hi Specs, following this thread and hope u don't mind my jumping in here.
we have about 90hrs of HDV 1080i 24p full size dv tapes that represent a
complete 87 segment feature length movie and are ready to do the editing and
production and trying to figure the best approach to keep our project as
near to the 35mm film look (thus the 24p) and want to spec out the edit
hardware/software.
it's been recommended by other production companies to use final cut pro and
yet another avid pro and even yet another with more experience than the
other two liquid addition. the first two have given us horror stores even
to include over 1000 logged hours of disasters while the latter studio says
that their only problems are output continuity to the original project,
though it is completely possible takes some effort. but what they do say is
that editing is clear and precise and easy to learn. however, the first two
said the learning curve is harder than filming. the latter we have more
experience with than the former and thus we have little input other than it
took 3 movies to 'learn' so to speak.
so, can you comment on your thoughts as well as equipment pc vs mac and how
to keep our continuity to 24p recommendations?
