I suggest a 3CCD DV camcorder with manual controls for
exposure
white balance
focus
audio recording level
zebra pattern
One camcorder that seems to fit the bill is the panasonic PV-GS400.

Or perhaps a used sony DCR-TRV900, which is cheaper than a used VX2000 but
still works well. If you are willing to risk buying used equipment.
