Hi,
I've heard all of the (mostly negative) feedback about Pinnacle. Does
anyone especially like/dislike either Cyberlink Power Director 5 or Ulead
Video Studio 9?
I've got trials of both of these packages plus Adobe Premiere Elements
(which I've already rejected).
My impressions:
PowerDirector 5
Pro: Okay user interface, fun special effects, easy video editing.
Con: Sometimes horribly unintuitive UI, Captures DVI as MPeg and I don't
see anywhere that I can change this default, crashes without an error
message occasionally, no decent tutorials, bad help file that tells you what
to do, but not when to do it, chroma-key doesn't work as advertised on the
web site. Also, tech support email gives very random answers to very
specific questions.
ULead
Pro: Easy capture of video, optionally creates new AVI file for each scene.
VERY intuitive user interface, can do its most complex tasks without looking
at the help file. Chroma key is very intutive and just exceptional.
Con: Fewer special effects. UGLY metallic looking interace that gets old
really fast.
Thanks.
Teresa
