You probably cannot get what you want. Lavaliere microphones come in two
varieties: omni, which picks up sound relatively equally in all directions,
and cardioid, which is directional. The cardioid variety exclude more sound
sources in front of and to the side of the speaker than do omnis. However,
cardioid pickup-pattern microphones are more affected by a speaker turning
his or her head to the side; persons tend to go 'off-mic' as they turn to
the side. The sound perceptibly changes. Omnis are are not nearly as
affected by this. You choose which you prefer: more (but not very much
more) rejection of extraneous noise (cardioid) or more consistent sound
(omni). Just for emphasis, there is no lavaliere microphone that will do
what you want -- completely reject the traffic noise, dog barks, and other
sounds of the world outside your set.
