Gary,

My comments were related to Video Studio 9, a program which is typically
sold for around $79 and occasionally less through different Ulead
promotions. It is the 'amateur' version of their more deluxe program called
Media Studio Pro. Apparently both use the same HDV plug-in, but they differ
substantially in other ways. I've had no experience with the more deluxe
product, and therefore can't really offer an opinion.

I too switched from an earlier version of Video Studio to Adobe Premiere
(version 6) for much the same reason as you describe. I switched out of
Premiere when HDV editing was required, and thus began my search for
something fast and competent for editing.

Despite the 'amateur' status, it does what it claims to do very well, and is
especially fast for HDV, particularly compared to the much more expensive
alternatives. I find it too limited for many editing tasks, but it certainly
does the basics well in HDV.
