Hi;
I do live video for touring dance competitions, and I am in need of a
solution that will allow me to display graphics and text on projection
screens, pretty much generating these on the fly.
I need about 10 seconds of video and audio between each act (each act
being 2 or 3 minutes long) that will display the name and entry # of
the next routine. The graphics would be pretty standardized, the only
thing that would change from each 10 second clip to the next would be
the text.
We are talking about a decent number of titles, sometimes up to 300 a
day. I have considered using FCP or similar, and having 300 instances
of the 10 second sequence, and just changing the text box for each act
prior to each show. I would then obviously output using the external
monitor preview option into a switcher (of which I already own).
Apparently I wouldn't be told until about 10 seconds prior to the video
being played back what the next act is, so all of the titles would have
to be done ahead of time. I could use markers to quickly access each
act if they went out of order.
I have heard about graphics generators and such that would do a better
job, or perhaps give me greater flexibility and/or better graphics than
just using the limited text features of Final Cut Pro. Maybe there are
plug-ins that would do the trick? Maybe I just even answered my own
question :-)
My budget could be up to $15,000, and although I'd like to buy a G5,
I'm not opposed to buying a PC if there is a specific title-generator
software that would be better suited to my needs.
Thanks,
Jeff
