Maybe you'd better exlain what your "video sequence" is?
Else it sounds like all you need is PowerPoint or something
where you can prepare hundreds of slides before the event
(or even on-the-fly if needed) and just point-n-click to select
which one to display. Are you talking about titles/names over
static backgrounds? Over moving backgrounds? Also don't
know what the audio consists of?
There are many specialized applications made for generating
title sequences, etc. for projection display. Most of them were
written for churches who use projection screens for all sorts of
things like this.

We do that commonly with PowerPoint. On a modern laptop PC,
you can manage which slide is showing, etc.. from the main screen,
and the external video output will show the full-frame page. And
some of the apps made for churches make image management and
even on-the-fly creation even easier.

FCP (or any video editing application) doesn't really seem like the
right kind of tool for this job, but then you haven't really given us
much of a description of what it looks/sounds like.

Dunno why you couldn't do it for 1/10th that budget, at least with a
PC, maybe more if you're paying a premium for the fruit computer.
