Consult the experts first. That's what I did and they recommended the
NEC 3540. Thus far it has been a winner. I even installed the hack
firmware that removes Riplock and now that sucker rips a Video DVD in
half the time with Decrypter. Here's a typical session for a Double
Layer (DL) Video DVD:

Without Riplock:
Duration: 00:11:54
Average Read Rate: 11,246 KB/s (8.1x)
Maximum Read Rate: 16,170 KB/s (11.7x)

With Riplock:
Duration: 00:19:24
Average Read Rate: 6,898 KB/s (5.0x)
Maximum Read Rate: 9,916 KB/s (7.2x)

This reminds me of Marion Barry's famous quote:

"Outside of the killings, Washington D.C. has one of the lowest
crime rates in the country."

Get an NEC 3540. Didn't I mention that before? That alone is the most
useful thing you are going to learn from me.

>And another question: What's a Newegg?

Don't you know how to use Google? If not, I strongly recommend you
stop everything right now and learn how to use it. Use the Advanced
Search facility - bookmark it so you can get to it straight away.

Put "newegg" (without quotes) in the text box and see what happens.
The very first result is:

http://www.newegg.com/

Newegg has a search engine too. Put in "nec 3540" and hunt down the
beige OEM unit for $40 or a black one for a few bucks less. If you
don't have any hardware parts, get the Retail Box for a few bucks
more. Read the customer reviews at the bottom of each unit. Then check
out http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=86.

Return that piece of crap you have now for a full refund. Threaten to
contact the state attorney general if they give you a hard time. Tell
them your father is a lawyer for the Mafia and your brother is in
charge of enforcement.

Next time consult the experts before you buy anything.
