Brian,
Doing this type of conversion has been my hobby as of late. I would go with
Ken on this one with one addition. I'm not sure what type of file format you
are using when downloading your file but I would use VRD to finalize your
video into MPEG2. I've never used VRD but if Ken recommends it, use it.
I had been using Dr Divx for conversion but have gone to the new "avi.net".
For those of you that like to convert to Divx or Xvid I highly recommend it.
It's free software. The developer does ask for a donation. The developer
doesn't mess around. He constantly is making it better. If you have a
question you can email him and get an immediate response (what a novelty).
The download page has all the codecs and encoders you need. He keeps them
updated on a regular basis.
