I am trying to import files from a DVD that I put into the DVD player
in my Mac G5 via Final Cut Pro 4. Some have shown up but others...
Let me give you an example:
The DVD is a motorsports DVD and if you put the DVD in and just watch
it on the DVD player, the first screen shows the different "chapters"
you can select from on the DVD (Each chapter is footage from a
different motorsports event & locale), as is with any DVD.
After selecting a chapter, under an event name, you'll see
1. A quick10-second intro with a shot of the hosts followed by
2. A standard 30-second collage-from-all-events Intro (with logos,theme
music & film cuts from different events), and then
3. The "meat" of that specific event, coverage that can take anywhere
up to 15 minutes or so.
I specify these parts of each chapter because, when trying to import a
chapter into FCP, your selection of files to import in each chapter
will look like this:
(i.e., Chapter 1)
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.VOB
(i.e., Chapter 2)
VTS_02_0.BUP
VTS_02_0.IFO
VTS_02_0.VOB
If I drag a folder with these files into a FCP browser folder, only the
..VOB file will import (The other files aren't supported by FCP 4).
Oddly enough, the VOB file can be viewed and is Only that quick
10-second intro with a shot of the hosts (#1 above).
Of COURSE, the section of video I need is in #2 from above (the
standard 30-second collage-from-all-events Intro), but there is no way
to view it, much less import it.
Why would only a section of these chapters be a .VOB file? Is there any
way to convert .BUP or .IFO files in FCP4?
Sorry this message is so long, and Thanks!
