No - Just use the iPod as an external drive!
You don't need a CD-R
But on the other hand if you have a CD-R why bother with using the iPod?

No Use the iPod as a drive - Just drag the songs you want to it - The iPod
sofware will not see them, that's why you have to then drag them to your
main PCs drive and then let iYunes reload them.
