You are thinking of Internet access. But what about between the ISP to
home network? That runs on an internal network and does not access the
Internet. I am using Road Runner in Houston and can get 4Mb/s (400
KB/s) download speed between my cable box and their servers.
If AOL Time Warner Cable Co, owners of RR, put a bigmutha server farm
in Houston, then I could get a 400 MB XviD avi (a 45 minute episode
with adequate resolution for a 19" viewscreen) in 1000 seconds (17
min). That's a helluva lot easier than the NF or BB hassle.
I rounded the numbers to make the calculation easy, but you get the
idea.
Pay for view is nothing new, and putting the content on a VCR is
nothing new either. If the studios would not be greedy, then they
could make a huge shitpot of easy money. But they must not restrict
the content for the user who paid for it.
