I agree with you, provided that the VHS tapes do not have some sort of copy
protection such as Macrovision. If they do, you have to be able to insert
a Macrovision eliminator between the tape player and the recorder. In
practice, this means 2 separate units. If your tapes are all homemade, go
ahead and go for the combination unit.
