Just thought of REBECCA. ...Alfred Hitchcock. Again, I'm afraid it's
slightly romantic, but also deep, dark mystery. It's probably my favourite
Hitchcock film -I can't think of another one offhand that I actually 'love'.
And The Third Man... I got mine from Andy by swapping for Charlies Angels
under the condition that I cherish it and don't resell for a massive profit
or something like that. Well I'm glad to say I do love it and won't be
parting with it. You just gotta love that music and Orson Welles'
all-to-brief performance.
And... The Seven Samurai... I know you said you'd rather stay away from
foreign-language ones for now, but man that is a classic of any age. A
must-see!
(...To be honest I'm not crazy about "The Magnificent Seven"... I love the
music and the actors in it, but the movie itself I could take or leave. The
Japanese original though is superb.)
And while we're at it... Le Trou... French prison escape movie. Great film
unsurpassed by anything else that might be half-similar.
-Kevin.
