Sorry... I was all set to leave it lie, but thought of some more and can't
let it drop without mentioning...
Lolita... nobody'd have the balls to do it now -well ok I know it was done a
few years ago, but this one dares to be _funny_ as well as challenging...
and she is old enough for it not to be too uncomfortable anyway.

Paths of Glory ...I think you said you saw A Very Long Engagement... that
uses similar scenes/setups to tell a similar tale. Not a war movie -more a
courtroom drama. ish.
12 Angry Men (of course)
