Can't be CCD if it's not visible during record only playback.

I suspect the trailing tape head guide may have worked loose or a tape
tension problem.
But to be honest those tiny mechs are just too delicate and fiddly to
repair.
I'd sent it to Sony for a fixed price repair and save the grief.
At least you know what you'll be paying up front.
