I assume you've captured something if you used the software!

If you don't need to see video from the time line to assist the voice
over talent than just do a Log and Capture.

When the Log and Capture window comes up select Clip Settings and under
capture and make it Audio Only. Then you can choose how many channels
you want to record to.

There's also a audio cut in feature that gives the talent a count down
to a segment and you can lay in live. I never recommend that action
unless it's animation.

All this is clearly discussed in the FCP manual.
