Hi Karen,
Its not exactly clear what you're trying to do here.
First of all 1GB is the DVD standard for a Video OBject (VOB), so there is
nothing strange there.
I (and I presume most of us) have no idea what a wav pedal might be.

What does this mean? Is your audio/video out of synch? Are you losing both
audio and video or just one or the other?
When you play the DVD on a standard DVD player is it ok?
When you "transcribe it on the computer with a wav pedal", what exactly are
you doing and what is the purpose of this step? Are you attempting to just
extract the audio portion of the DVD into a wav file?
If we knew what you were trying to do, I'm absolutely certain we could help
you solve your problem.
