Why bet everything on the PS3? This whole PS3 = guaranteed success is
bunch of malarky IMO. The playing field has changed substantially since
the release of the PS2 6 years ago... Sony hasn't even been able to take
away the portable gaming market from Nintendo(portable gaming isn't
about "powerful hardware"...nintendo knows this, sony doesn't). Who's to
say the juggernaut that is Microsoft isn't going to whipe the floor with
Sony in this console war? Because of the Playstation brand name? Pff...
That brand name hasn't done much good for the PSP so far.

The PS3 may or may not be a huge success, but I'm not one to buy into
hype, which is what Sony so often thrives on. Just because the previous
2 incarnations of the Playstation have been hugely successful, doesn't
mean this one will. Remember Nintendo had 2 of the most successful video
game consoles of all time in the NES and SNES, but in the blink of an
eye they slipped to a distant second with the N64. The same thing may
happen to Sony this time around.
