Short of watching the disc all the way thru, your 5 minute chapter mark
is probably the best way to go. There is a program called DVD Info Pro
that will check for CRC read errors, but its best to just turn on Verify
when you do the initial burn.
But even that will not reveal all problems. I have one particular
burner that does not like a particitular brand of blanks (Ritek). The
discs will burn and verify, but skip when played on a particular player
that I have (a Sony). The same disc plays on other players without
problems. If I copy that same "bad" disc to the same type media but
using a different burner, then the new disc will play on the Sony.
