If you traded in a 1.0 G4, which barely meets the minimum specs for
FCS, for a current dual 2.0 or better (a Quad would of course be best)
and brought up your software to the latest versions, that would be an
upgrade to your current setup.

I really think you and Doc both got lemons. If my experience had been
the same I might be just as annoyed as you are. I am certain, however,
that those experiences are not the norm.

My family has owned half a dozen Saabs because we all love the way they
drive. The first or second one we got had so many problems with the
flywheel and a couple of other issues that we actually had to pursue it
in court as Texas has a lemon law. Every other one of them has had no
significant issues. I have no doubt they have more issues than most
Chevys but the one bad car was obviously not indicative of the whole
line.

Of course, your Apple setups were in place as your way of earning a
living and you only had one and apparently didn't like ANYTHING about
the usability so I can understand why moving back to PC and staying
there would be preferable.

Likewise I got a 5300 laptop years ago which repeatedly had problems
with the wafer-think power-supply connection and had to have the entire
motherboard replaced twice because of poor design. Overall, our 3
offices ran on Mac for years and I've had more problems with the PC's
we use for UPS and a couple of other functions than all the Macs, which
outnumber the PC's by about 6 or 7 to one. Of course subjectively I
also prefer the user interface and I was reading a thread the other day
about an Windows system lacking a driver for a monitor and I'm thinking
"what the $*%#?" but yeah, I would have been somewhat inclined ot stay
with Mac anyway. I never had a compelling reason to switch other than
availability of POS software, which is now mostly net-based anyway.

I do understand, really, and I'll also be curious to what Specs has to
say. I am always MOST interested in what Windows users have to offer,
such as what the Windows Supersite had to say about Tiger. Like you
they are clearly not fans of some of Apple's past pricing and marketing
but had a lot of good things to say about the OS.
