The ratings are done on a per-capita basis, not gross numbers.
Otherwise they wouldn't have any validity.

Customer satisfaction is also consistently #1.

As far as being afraid to tell their comrades, I have never experienced
that personally. Many of the people now looking at Final Cut
installations WANT to go back to Mac after the state or city or school
or company banned Macs a few years ago. The tide has turned to a great
degree but there are still a few companies (one real estate firm in
particular) whose editors wanted FCS but their IT people nixed it.
They simply didn't want something they couldn't support; of course we
would have handled that.

It has also been my experience that some IT people will poo-poo Mac not
only because they think they don't know how to support them but because
frankly, by the percentages, less support is needed and so it threatens
their jobs. Again, not your experience, but percentage-wise, typically
accurate.

I am sorry you had such a bad experience regardless of what you used.
Most of the horror stories about support I've heard are about Pinnacle
and sometimes Avid. No one should have to go through that.
