It isn't so much us oldies not being able to hear high frequencies,
it is that younger people can hear them better.
We lose sensitivity in the upper frequencies making really high pitched
sounds less clear. In my case, I think it might be made worse by the
ringing in my ears that drowns out a lot of high frequency information.
