BLOCKS (HD DVD AND DVD COMBO), SYRIANA, and ULTRAVIOLET: UNRATED
EXTENDED CUT:
ALICE COOPER LIVE AT MONTREUX 2005 (reviewed by Dennis Prince, overall
score 96/100):
"If you believe Alice Cooper to washed up and merely trying to wring a
bit more money out of a tired act, you'd be sorely mistaken."

THE BOONDOCK SAINTS: UNRATED SPECIAL EDITION (reviewed by Rob
Lineberger, overall score 81/100):
"As each atrocity mounts, you will either turn away in disgust or find
yourself perversely enthralled. It is unabashed, puerile wish
fulfillment."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/boondocksaintsse.php
DAVE CHAPPELLE'S BLOCK PARTY (reviewed by Joe Armenio, overall
score 92/100):
"Politics is always present, in a resolutely unpreachy way: Chappelle
says at one point that he invited artists one doesn't often hear on the
radio, who aren't afraid to criticize those in power in blunt and often
profane ways (Dead Prez, for example)."

DIMEVISION: THAT'S THE FUN I HAVE (VOLUME 1) (reviewed by Bill Gibron,
overall score 84/100):
"More of a sloppy celebration of a free-spirited rocker's rebellious
downtime than a homily to a fallen friend, Dimevision: Volume 1 --
That's the Fun I Have is a scrapbook collection of material accumulated
over the entire life of this enigmatic man. One look at the content here
and you can tell that Dimebag Darrell absolutely loved life."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/dimevisionvol1.php
FIREWALL (HD DVD AND DVD COMBO) (reviewed by Dennis Prince, overall
score 90/100):
"If you say you haven't seen Warner Brother's new Firewall yet, well, I
say you probably have seen it since it relies on so many action-intrigue
set pieces that have gone before it."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/firewallhddvd.php
THE FIVE PENNIES (reviewed by Bryan Pope, overall score 90/100):
"In a film with countless musical high points, the peak is Kaye's 'When
the Saints Go Marching In' duet with the inimitable Louis Armstrong
(playing himself as no one else ever could), a number that transcends
the film and, if you'll forgive the hyperbole, soars into the
stratosphere of cinematic legend. It's just that good."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/fivepennies.php
THE LONGEST DAY (reviewed by Ryan Keefer, overall score 86/100):
"All in all, megastars aside, The Longest Day is an ode to those who
fought in the war, and, more importantly, is reverential to those that
didn't make it back. "
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/longestday.php
METAL: A HEADBANGER'S JOURNEY (reviewed by Adam Arseneau, overall
score 95/100):
"Let's not forget my personal favorite heavy metal genre: the
Norwegian Black Metal. Wait, did I say 'favorite'? I meant 'sweet
zombie Jesus scary.'"
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/metaljourney.php
MR. AND MRS. SMITH: UNRATED TWO-DISC COLLECTOR'S EDITION (reviewed by
Ryan Keefer, overall score 83/100):
"The soundtrack is banging, the movie was entertaining, and Liman's
intention to release his true cut is never a bad thing, but let's go
balls to the wall if you want to ask someone to pay more money for the
same movie, you know?"
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/mrandmrssmithunrated.php
MUNICH (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall score 96/100):
"With Munich, Spielberg makes a clear and convincing statement for his
continued relevance as a director of daring, originality, and spirit.
The movie itself is unquestionably great, a future favorite in the
director's extensive oeuvre."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/munich.php
NEIL YOUNG: HEART OF GOLD (reviewed by Russell Engebretson, overall
score 92/100):
"I don't believe Jonathan Demme -- or any other director -- will ever
match the glory of Stop Making Sense, the best rock concert movie
committed to film. But that doesn't take a thing away from his latest
picture, which is perhaps the flip side to the youthful Talking Heads'
magnum opus."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/neilyoungheartgold.php
PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (HD DVD) (reviewed by Dennis Prince, overall
score 92/100):
"Schumacher has a visual style, no doubt, yet he still lacks the ability
(or desire?) to uphold his imagery with solid narrative."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/phantomoperahddvd.php
16 BLOCKS (HD DVD AND DVD COMBO) (reviewed by Dennis Prince, overall
score 96/100):
"In actuality, the film that does unfold is far better than what was
sold outside the theater box office (or on the DVD keep case)."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/16blockshddvd.php
SYRIANA (reviewed by Eric Profancik, overall score 90/100):
"Power corrupts. That's the not-so-subtle point of Syriana, a
mesmerizing look at the tangled web of oil and politics. This film could
not be any timelier, with oil prices in the evening news almost daily."
FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/syriana.php
ULTRAVIOLET: UNRATED EXTENDED CUT (reviewed by Jonathan Weiss, overall
score 84/100):
"If you want to get all cynical about it, Ultraviolet is basically a
cross between Aeon Flux and Underworld with a little Blade thrown in for
good measure -- so basically you've seen all this stuff before. But
guess what? That doesn't make it any less fun."
