Field dominance issues - how common

Posted by DanR on 06/26/06 19:18

I'm wondering how common this is. I just purchased Adobe Premier Elements 2
and assembled about 12 clips. Not until exporting to DVD did I notice that
my original clips were TFF and Premier expects RFF. All horizontal camera
movement in the DVD was horrible because of the field order being wrong.
The source of the clips were from a stand alone DVD recorder recording from
a DirecTV DVR (R10) Then imported into Premier.
I now know I can reverse the field order from the timeline to fix the
problem but I don't know how to anticipate the problem. I also learned today
that GSpot beta 2.52 will display the field order from the source DVD
tracks. So it looks like I must check every DVD track prior to importing
into Premier.
So... have I answered my own question or is there a better way?
