In the essence of fair play, it's only right that I update this; the
retailer has responded to a snail mail letter that I sent to the address on
record of the domain owner, confirming refund in progress, mucho apologious
et etc.
Ultimately the result I needed, eventually.
Caveat emptor an' all that...
