As Dr Zoidberg, Damon and myself said: GET A PVR!!!
If you've never had a PVR, you honestly don't know what you're missing. It's
easier than a VCR, better quality, and saves all that piddling about trying
to find tapes. If she can use the Freeview EPG to see what's on, she can
record. If she can press a Play button and choose a programme from a list,
she can watch what she's recorded. They are wife-friendly technology. My
missus has failed to learn how to work my AV amp in 4 years. It took her
about 10 minutes to get the hang of the PVR.
