If your DVD player, much to your surprise, plays your non-compliant
videos then there's a good chance it will play the separate subs too -
and simultaneously. It may not like the sub format but that's easily
changed using Subtitle Workshop. Usually such players only expect
that the video and subtitle files will have the same name, be in the
same folder, and that the properly named file extensions are among the
supported types.
