all I can say is get a decent demo... (like hd-dvd uk have at their shop)..
the salesman should have understood that the video output should have been
set to match that of the display in this case 720p, otherwise upscaling
occurs then downscaling at the diplay device causing further digital
artifacts to degrade the picture, and some displays do not fully agree with
1080i signals. hd-dvd pictures are fantastic and far superior to standard
dvd when viewed on any decent screen over 37", providing the set-up is
correct. In our experience, callibrating the screen on a Pioneer 42" plasma
for correct greyscale also helps further to bring out more detail.
