You need to look at things over the long term, technology changes very
quickly. We have an explosion of hd televisions over the last twelve months,
which are now the price of sd screens the same time the year before.

The dvd format, as a mass market product only hit the big time post yr2000,
and it has at least another five years of life left in it.

The post dvd companies will be anticipating (or hoping) for a ten year
turnaround on the new formats.

In five years time 720p will be standard for new tv purchases, and 1080p
will be common...

I suspect that neither hddvd or blueray are going to take off for a few
years yet, as the mass market wont be able to tell the difference, between
them and DVD.
