I like the FX1 alot, but I still prefer a shoulder mount camera.I have
an FX1 and a Canon H1, and I've used them both for weddings,
interviews, etc. I second what Toboek said, especially the fact that
you kind of need to shoot on tripod. I fashioned an "L" shaped plate to
bolt under the FX, and protrude out the back. On the plate, I velcro my
Senn G2 wireless reciver. I bungy corded an Anton Bauer gold plate(from
my Canon) and AB battery underneath, so I could power my Frezzi light
(in the shoe above the mic). You also need an XLR box for mics (I have
the beechtek).
Once I had all my gear on the FX1, I had to follow a host around a
crowded paty for 3 hours.
I put the whole rig on a monopod, and dragged it around. The main
ergonomic problem is that with the plate protruding in back, you can't
use the eyepiece viewfinder, and have to use the lcd.I hadn't gotten my
H1 yet, and the client wanted hdv, so I had to use the FX1.
In conclusion, the FX1 has a great image, but is hard for someone like
me to use as a main camera. It's fantastic if you can shoot on tripod,
but with all the accessories I need, very difficult. Some people,
however, shoot with support sytems and are ok. The DV rig pro would be
the one I would get if the FX were my only camera.
I've had good luck with my Sennheiser G2. If you get it, spend the
extra $100 for the hand held mic adaptor. It's great fro interviews in a
noisy room.
Good luck
