Assuming it was this set (and not some other DVD I was watching recently, it
seemed to me (because I'm a picky sod and tend to notice these things) that
the PAL version is a just a simple conversion of the NTSC version, thus it
doesn't benefit from the extra detail and clarity that the PAL format is
capable of (576 lines compared to 480 lines NTSC) (in fact, it does indeed
lose a tiny bit of detail in the conversion as you have noticed).
That said, I'd still prefer the PAL format version as it doesn't have the
horrible motion judder of the NTSC format.
However, since Lucasfilm can't be arsed to do a propper job for PAL format
viewers, I can't be arsed to buy them.
Just my thoughts.
