I have a RDX-S34 Digital Video Hard Drive Recorder which until today has
worked flawlessly. All of a sudden, it cannot play any pre-recorded DVD or
CD (including commercial DVDs and CDs and DVD-Rs I recorded on this same
unit). I place a DVD in the drawer, and then it says "Loading" for a number
of minutes (anywhere from 3 to over 15 minutes, during which time I cannot
do anything - open the drawer, turn off the unit, etc.) until it finally
gives me a message that the disc is either dirty or defective and that I
should try another disc. I know the discs are fine - I have tried to play
numerous discs, including one that I just played successfully the other day
and none are dirty or scratched or defective in any way, and play fine in
another player. I have tried shutting the unit off and then turning it back
on, but it still is doing the same thing.
I cannot find any troubleshooting tips in either the manual or on the
Toshiba website to help me determine what is wrong and how to resolve this
problem. Can you assist me in any way? What can I do to fix this?
