G'day all
Went and bought a Conia set top box over the christams break and it's
exposed a problem with my
AV setup that I need some help with. I also bought and installed a new
antenna (Hills 400).
TV is an 80cm Sony WEGA and DVD/HD recorder is a Pioneer.
These get power from a monster cable powerpack (next to useless)
The problem I have is when watching TV I get diagonal interference lines
across the screen.
With the Ant. direct to TV no problem. Insert the Pioneer and slight problem
on some stations.
Plug the Conia set top box into the power and the problem goes ballistic and
TV is unwatchable
on analoge. Gets worse when the Conia is in the RF path. Digital from the
Conia works
perfect (about 45% signal) but if I want to record the digital and watch TV
is a huge issue..
I returned the Conia box to the shop but worked perfect when we plugged it
in there.
With or without the monster cable powerpack the result is the same.
I noticed some voltage in the leads (tingled my fingers) so I think I may
have an earth problem
in the house or the AV setup. The TV has an earth pin on it's power lead,
nothing else has.
Can anyone please give me some clues as to how to go about
diagnosing/solving the problem?
Regards
Mark
