There are a couple of ways to do this. I don't use FCP, so I can't give you
specifics.
Do a google search on "track matte" or "traveling matte" and "pinned matte."
You might also check out the tutorials at wrigleyvideo.com. They're
Premiere-specific, but you might get the general idea.
