As much as I regret to make the assertion, the replies you've had on
this issue simply don't add up to the huge ten year experience of our
company using most types of DV, DVCAM and HDV equipment in the most
challenging environments human beings and cameras can be in. From
deserts to jungles, to mountains, to both poles and at sea in a few
oceans, including the Antarctic on a 46 foot yacht, kayaking off Alaska
and many more impressive feats of location camerawork. Our archive of
literally thousands of tapes of which over 99% were recorded on bog
standard Panasonic consumer miniDV costing less than $2 each that have
been remarkable not only for being able to record at a quality equal to
any over hyped $20 'master tape' but also for reliability, consistency
and a lack of any problematic recording or data retentively issue.

It's digital, whole different ball game to analogue.
