1. Buy a player that does not have such limitations.
2. Some manufacturers are revising firmware to address this issue.
For instance:
1. Oppo Digital players have setup options to route digital audio through
either HDMI or coaxial.
2. Philips issued a firmware update for the DVP5960 to restore coaxial
audio output when using the upscaling feature and HDMI.
