At present compression used is MPEG 2 by satellite and cable both, the
picture quality depends on the bandwidth allocated to each channel,
which is a limited resource in case of satellite but not in cable.
Well for resolution it simply depends on what res u r getting from
source and what res configuration you have made on the encoder. Higher
the res, higher the bw requirement for the channel, usual case would
be 3 quarters.
