About two weeks ago, I had some problems with some of
my customers installations. Some completely lost their
Thai TV, and others had severe blocking.
I swapped some customers from 76Cm dishes to 95Cm dishes, and
c/n improved from 6.4dB up to 7.2dB. They still had some tiling,
but not nearly as bad. A few days later, I checked the c/n at one
customer's house because I was in their neighborhood. The signal
was up to 9.4dB without me touching the dish, so someone at Galaxy
must have realized there was a problem and turned up the power.
The problem was less noticable further inland because the footprint
of the satellite is noticably weaker along the Atlantic coastline.
Customers with 76Cm dishes are happy once again.
For about two weeks, 76Cm dishes were not large enough to work here
on Galaxy 25, now they're OK again. But- if it were me, I would use
no smaller than a 1 meter dish for Galaxy 25. That way you stay
on the side of the law with respect to the OTARD rules (HOA can't
make you take them down or move them). That way if Galaxy has a
problem again in the future (I'm sure they will) your customers
will never notice the problem. (Or it will be much less noticeable.)
