Not complex at all.

Most DVD/CD players already use a toggle head that switches between
two different laser diodes so it is by no means a new technology.

Likely never happen. These boys are very cost of manufacture anal.

There will likely ALWAYS be only one spindle in a "drive". There
are already "players" that can move the head from one side of a disc
to the other as in LASER DISC players that play both sides of a disc.
There are already read head mechanisms that have more than one laser
diode in them that toggles between the two depending on the media in
the drive.
