My thoughts were the same as yours. The initial contact from the CC company
was via a message on my ansaphone asking me to ring a Freephone number. My
suspicions were aroused so I first Googled the number and it appeared to be
genuine, however to be absolutely certain I rung the Customer Services for
the credit card. The lady I spoke to confirmed that the number was genuine
and then transferred me via an internal extension to the Fraud Department.
The call from the Fraud Department was genuine. They issue was the unusual
nature of the transactions. I hadn't used the card in quite a while and
there was suddenly a flurry of activity. Once I confirmed that I hadn't made
the transactions they stopped the card straight away.

I went directly to the site. I hadn't ordered from them in over a year and
I saw they had a DVD set (Kate & Allie S1&2, 3,4) which I was after.
I decided to update my profile with new credit card details, but then did
not place the order after all as I noticed that the item was on sale via
their "marketplace" rather than directly from the site.
Rather big coincidence that Play.com featured among the unauthorized
transactions :)
