It is hard (at least for me) to decipher such things about software
that is, by today's standards, so old. Furthermore, what was the
source? (i.e. how credible is it? how old is it?)

And we also don't know what patch level your W2K is, either?
SP1? SP2? etc. Have you gone to www.microsoft.com and
run their web page which analyzes your system to see if it has all
the current patches and service packs, etc?

But that doesn't sound like your problem?

OK. You are lucky you didn't break something.

No offense, but I think you are obsessing about this. Use the
TV monitor and get on with your life. My experience with the
RT2500 is that you should be thankful it works as it does and
hope you never have to re-install it. The British use a word to
describe equipment like this: "fiddly". But the Matrox RT stuff
goes way beyond "fiddly" in my experience and I was grateful
to get rid of it.

In fact, I just remembered why I assembled a whole new edit
system here at the office. I moved the RT2500 card from one
slot to another and it never worked after that. Dunno if they lost
some installation disc or something, but we found it easier to
assemble a whole new system with a $15 OHCI Firewire
card. I just re-cycled the older machine as a low-volume server
and removed the RT2500 card. I found it easier to format the
C: drive and re-install the operating system, etc. from scratch
than to try to disentangle all the RT2500 stuff. Perhaps others
have more patience than I do?

That very well may be, but I can't imagine how the video
monitor during capture problem has anything to do with IRQ.
Unless you are trying to solve some other problem you haven't
mentioned here?

I don't see ANY that could be considered "not necessary".

Not clear why you seem to have TWO sound cards?

Could that be contributing to your lack of sound on playback?
