regarding Avid products/philosophy period, here's an interesting comment
from an avid spokesperson during an interview:
"When people hear the name Avid, it calls to mind an Oscar and Emmy-award
winning company whose customers are responsible for over 90% of Hollywood's
feature films and prime time television. It calls to mind a company whose
sole focus is professional editing - the only company in the industry that
can say that."
i personally met thelma scoonmaker who was the editor for the movie "the
aviator" regarding avid products in new york at the NAB Post conference last
fall and she confirmed that statement above.
