You could use an outside transcoder such as ProCoder and you could compress
the crap out of these videos. The biggest problem is that once you go below
4mb/sec the video suffers greatly. Frankly, it would look like crap.
Encore has a 4mb single pass labeled as "Low Quality". These 22GB files
would fit onto a single DVD once transcoded using the 4mb 2-pass "High
Quality" setting. If you don't want to tie up your system just do what many
others do. Select Build DVD just before retiring for bed. Once you get up in
the morning the disc is done.
DVD's are inexpensive. Why not have good quality video images rather than
trying to stack several hours onto a single disc?
