Not at all. it was the only 8 core machine wioth the 3GHZ Xeons available
at the time and I needed 3 monster workstations.
Perfectly normal .. A lot of people did the same.. Also.. It was good to be
able to use FCP or Shake or whatever if I really needed to..

It isn't pathological at all. I reported the SAME situation in 2000 when I
started to use FCP. I maintained that OSX was slow and stupid. And now that
the benchmarks can be done on the same machine it shows I was correct all
along. Add to that the nightmare that was FCP 4.5 and I had plenty of reason
to have negative reviews of that horrible program.
the Macs were arounf $13k so an extra $400 to upgrade final klutz was ok
with me..

Oh Man.. I have 34 computers. using 3dsmax, combustion, AE, Boujou, Mokey,
Vue and more.. Throwing in a new OS would cripple me.
